For many years I've been an avid collector and
hoarder of what some might call "junk". My main sources are Charity Shops, an Aladdin's Cave
of discarded things. You never know what items you might select from the surrounding bric-a-brac. A piece that catches the eye
and stands out. Sometimes I come away empty handed. Pieces range from small perfume bottles to Chinese blue porcelain to old books. And picture frames, lots of picture frames. It makes you wonder about previous owners, the rooms these treasures used to be in and why they
became of no use anymore. Rather than be thrown away to landfill, they have been donated to a Charity Shop with the altruistic intention of raising a few bob for Medical Research or
to help the homeless. It's a mystery why some pieces attract me: perhaps they jog a memory. Or maybe it's the shape or colour that I find beautiful. Whatever the reason, for a few Euro in aid of a good cause, they find a home once more in my cluttered studio. In "Your Choice" I aim to arrange these disparate things in such a way that a conversation takes place between them.
